summer heat

this last week has been outrageously warm, but in a way it's been really beautiful. it's been a nice heat wave even though in the midst of it all i'm sure everyone hated it. our grass started dying and i'm sure that a lot of people have gotten summer colds due to the temperature changes from going inside to outside and vice versa.

the last two days our town had our local summer festival. most people don't find it interesting or exciting either because we can't afford to bring in a midway or get awesome bands or have henna tattoos this year (yes, that part of me is sad for the last one). but a friend of mine is in the cosmetology program though our school and she decided to bring some sort of excitement to this festival by offering manicures. so we set up a table and waited for people to come and be pampered (or, as much as you can feel pampered in a park).

the last week has been hot, but it's been enjoyable. the last two days have cooled off beautifully and there's a certain warmth within that just makes me feel a different kind of happiness. to me, this has been the start of summer.
